BDL, Shorty Drive 2" open belt drive kit for Harley Davidson Shovelhead 70-78
The perfect set-up for minimalists. Electric start without a motor plate. The new Shorty starter housing is a typical form-meets-function design, smaller or electric start with less bulk is technically not possible. The BDL Shorty Drive kit comes with a rear pulley plate with starter housing, rear pulley with BDL Balls lock-up clutch, starter gear cover, rear pulley cover, front pulley and belt.
This 2" electric start BDL Shorty belt drive kit is designed to be used on Harley Davidson Shovelhead models 70-78 with ratchet top type 4-speed transmissions, with rear chain only.
Modifications are necessary to install this kit. Amongst other: When fitted to Shovel FX Models, the oil tank bracket must be cut to allow proper fitment of the starter. On FL Shovelhead models this modification is not necessary. On both - FX and FL Shovelhead models late 1979-1986 clutch arm (OEM# 37054-79A) must be used. Some clearancing work on this arm is needed.
